Youth Mental Health Summit
Lancaster, CA. The Rise, Reclaim, Restore Youth Mental Health Summit is part of the Department of Public Health, Office of Violence Prevention’s initiative to increase opportunities for young people to become mental health advocates in their schools and communities.
The goal of this summits is to increase understanding of mental health and well-being by introducing youth to mindfulness strategies, educating them on how to recognize signs that they or a friend may need help, and to connect youth with local mental health organizations. Our hope is that these summit will empower youth to become mental health champions.

The program for the day includes three sections: Rise, Reclaim, and Restore.
Part I – RISE: LA County Department of Mental Health will lead youth through the “It’s Real” Curriculum, a program that raises awareness about mental health issues, how to start a conversation about mental health, the importance of self-care, and how to reach out for help.
Part II – RECLAIM: LA County Office of Violence Prevention will guide youth through an activity to identify their “pods” or the people at school, home, and their community who can support their mental health and wellbeing. Youth will also set a mental health goal.
Part III – RESTORE: Youth will participate in rotating activity workshops with local mental health organizations and agencies.
Youth will also participate in mindfulness activities, hear from their local county leaders, and leave with tangible mental health guides, tools, and workbooks. They will also be eligible for raffle prizes and community service hours.
