TRAIN CRASH INVESTIGATION IN ANTELOPE VALLEY.

Antelope Valley, California - On February 11, 2025, at approximately 6:45 a.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a train on Bootlegger Canyon Road.


Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the involved vehicle was traveling westbound on Bootlegger Canyon Road at approximately 10 mph when he failed to observe the posted stop sign at the railroad crossing. The driver reported he did not see any lights or the approaching train before entering the tracks, where the train subsequently struck his vehicle, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Only minor injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Train service was temporarily suspended but resumed at approximately 8:35 a.m.


The California Highway Patrol reminds all motorists to exercise extreme caution when approaching railroad crossings. Always obey posted signage and look both ways before proceeding across train tracks.
