Palmdale, California. State Assemblymember Tina McKinnor, a Democrat representing Inglewood, recently introduced Assembly Bill 628. If enacted, this legislation would mandate that California landlords provide stoves and refrigerators in all apartment leases, effective January 1, 2026.
California law does not required that rental units include those appliances,
The bill will include some exemptions. Permanent supportive housing, single-room occupancy, a unit in a residential hotel, and a dwelling unit within a housing facility that provides shared or communal kitchen spaces to its residents, such as an assisted living facility, would be exempt from the bill.

Makes sense to me. Do we want tenants damaging floors by moving their own appliances in and out? Or do we want tenants cooking in unsafe ways?
