Parks After Dark (PAD) Is Back

Littlerock/Sun Village – On Wednesday April 6, a luncheon round table conference was held in the gymnasium at Jackie Robinson Park regarding Parks after Dark returning to our communities. The message was the goals and directions of PAD, existing programs, activities and services, new requirements for volunteers and vendors followed by networking after the round table discussions.

Hostess Regina Bradley stated how Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation is open to suggestions and collaborations with individuals, businesses and organizations who want to serve our communities at the parks.

Attending on behalf of LASD Parks Bureau was Deputy Tiffany Mercer. Deputy Mercer will consult with LLA Resident Deputy Gilberto Borruel on security coverage during PAD.

Kona Ice, Los Angeles County Public Health, Parks Bureau LASD, Bringing QH Together, Blank Canvas, Kids Community Dental Clinic, Boss Braiders and Sweet Spoon Creamery attended as interested participants. Parks represented at the table were Jackie Robinson Park, Lane Park and Stephen Sorensen Park. All residents of the west and southeast Antelope Valley communities are invited to come to the park of their choice to enjoy their 2022 Summer PAD.

The dates for 2022 Parks After Dark (PAD) are starting June 16 and running through August 6 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:00pm through 10:00pm.

A list of activities will be published when everything is etched in stone. Past activities included incredible music presentations, concert series, crafts, art, movies, food treats, games and so much more.

There has always been a need and demand for PAD. However, after 2 years and more of Pandemic, the unrest and the unknown, the isolation/separation and children feeling the insecurity which should not have been on their young shoulders, PAD takes on a whole new essential for everyone of all ages. This will be a most welcome break and promises pure family style enjoyment for all.
