Palmdale, CA.-In the aftermath of the fires, thousands of individuals who suffered total losses are now seeking alternative housing, which will present a challenge in terms of affordability, and the abrupt rise in demand may also precipitate higher prices.

In response to the devastating LA area fires that destroyed over 16,000 structures and displaced tens of thousands of individuals, Palndale City Council has declared a housing crisis. By establishing a Disaster Housing Task Force, Palmdale is now eligible to receive relief from the state to expedite housing production and accommodate displaced persons.

City staff are working closely with housing developers to accelerate approvals and identify flexible and innovative solutions to fast-track housing construction throughout Palmdale for both existing and new residents. With approximately 54 square miles of vacant land and thousands of residential units in development, efforts are underway to support fire victims interested in rebuilding their lives within our community.
