PALMDALE, CA – The City of Palmdale is proud to announce the 15th annual “Walk on Words” poetry installation, celebrating the rich diversity of our community. The poem reveal ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 27, at 4 p.m. at Sam Yellen Park & Dog Park, located at 5100 E. Avenue S in Palmdale.

For this year’s contest, writers were invited to create poems that celebrate the theme of “diversity.” The selected poem will be stamped in concrete at the park for all to enjoy.

“This annual tradition continues to grow in popularity and demonstrates how important public art is to our community,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “I look forward to attending the event and recognizing this year’s creative participants and the winning selection.”

The Walk on Words competition takes place annually as part of the City’s Public Art program. It has become a beloved tradition in Palmdale, showcasing local literary talent and fostering community engagement. Residents are invited to attend the reveal ceremony and be among the first to view the new installation. The event is free and open to the public.
