Palmdale Invites Youth to Participate in Fentanyl Awareness Spring Program

PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is excited to announce the launch of its Spring Youth Fentanyl Awareness program, offering local youth an opportunity to gain essential skills and awareness in the fight against fentanyl and substance abuse. This 3-day program is open to Antelope Valley youth in grades 6 through 12 and will take place on March 25-27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at two locations simultaneously — the Palmdale Oasis Park Recreation Center, 3850 E. Ave. S, and Lancaster Community Center, 4461 Yucca Ave., Lancaster.
“It is critical to educate our youth about the dangers of fentanyl and empower them with the tools to make life-saving choices,” said Mayor Richard J. Loa. “This program provides our young people with the knowledge they need to resist drugs, manage stress and build strong social skills. It is an investment in their future and the well-being of our community.”
The program will include sessions on personal self-management and social skills, stress management tools and drug resistance strategies. Participants will strengthen their communication abilities and be educated on the dangers of drug addiction, including the influence of media and peer pressure. Students will also receive breakfast and lunch during the session, as well as certificates upon program completion. Those who attend will be eligible for exciting giveaways, including gift cards and exclusive tickets to local events.
“By participating in this program, our youth will not only gain important life skills, but also learn how to advocate for drug-free living in their schools and communities,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “We’re empowering them to be the change-makers we need!”
Registration for this free program is required. For more information on the #FightFentanylAV campaign and to register, visit www.CityOfPalmdaleCA.gov/Fentanyl.
