Manuel Magaña chosen 2023 Cinco de Mayo Grand Marshall

Lake Los Angeles – The 2023 Cinco de Mayo parade will see the founder and past president of the organization Latinos Americanos en Accion serve as its Grand Marshall at this year’s parade.

The organization Latinos Americanos en Accion was founded and incorporated in 1995 by Manuel Magaña who served as its President each year until 2015 when Oscar Espitia took over the reins. He continues to serve as its Vice-President and guiding member.

Mr. Magaña has served his community for decades in several capacities. He served as Lake Los Angeles community representative on the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC provides the Lancaster Sheriff's Station with direct input from the public regarding local community issues and concerns.

He also served for many years as a Volunteer on Patrol (VOP) for the Sheriff’s Department until Covid put the patrols on hold.

He served on the board of the Lake Los Angeles Park Association. He was voted to serve two terms as Trustee for Keppel Union School District.

When VRoOM™ was first introduced to the Wilsona School District in Lake Los Angeles, he joined and served on the first collaboration team to get it up and running in conjunction with Save the Children.

It is indeed appropriate and fitting to honor such a foresighted and dedicated community member and community servant that Mr. Magaña has been as he continues to promote, support and serve the Lake Los Angeles community in so many ways and as he has devoted his time and talent to his community for so many decades.

The parade route for Cinco de Mayo starts at the LACoFD #114 Station on 170th Street East and Lake Los Angeles Avenue. The parade will flow north to the north driveway to Oso Market.

Pick out your spot to put your chairs and vehicles to view the parade and have a wonderful time!
