LASD Palmdale is accepting applications for the Explorer Academy that will begin this fall.

Palmdale, CA.-The Palmdale Sheriff Station is excited to announce that are accepting applications for the upcoming Explorer’s Academy!

The LASD Explorer Academy is a 15-week academy designed for teens and young adults who wish to pursue a career in law enforcement. Recruits will learn responsibility, multi-tasking, teamwork, leadership, and gain hands-on experience in basic law enforcement duties. Recruits will be challenged both physically and mentally but will graduate from the program with lifelong memories and experiences.

The Explorer Academy will tentatively begin on September 7, 2024 and will run for 15 consecutive Saturdays at Lancaster Station. Parent/Recruit Orientation Day will be held at Lancaster Station on August 17, 2024. Registration day will be August 24, 2024. Call backs for applicant interview appointments will begin August 5, 2024.

The requirements are as follows:

Recruits must be between the ages of 14-20 years old.

Have and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Have graduated 8th Grade.

Have strong integrity and character.

No serious criminal record/probation.

Must pass drug screening.

Must be able to attend Thursday evening POST meetings upon completion of the Academy.

Applications are available for pick up in the Lancaster and Palmdale Station lobbies now.
