Lancaster has launched its own police department

Lancaster, CA.- Rod Armalin, was sworn in today Tuesday September 12, 2023 as the city's first police chief.

"The new police department was created to work together with the Lancaster Los Angeles Sheriff Department. Mayor R. Rex Parris said.

Councilmember Marvin Christ added that the new police department is not here to replace LA County Sheriff Department .

"This partnership with LASD allows for efficient resource allocation, letting LASD handle major crimes while Lancaster's new police department concentrates on community safety." City of Lancaster
