HUGHES FIRE ERUPTS IN CASTAIC AREA, BURNS AT LEAST 3,400 ACRES

Palmdale, Ca.-There is a 3,400-acre vegetation fire at Lake Castaic. In a FB post the City of Palmdale stated that there are no current evacuation orders in Palmdale at this time. The fire is rapidly spreading and is 0% contained.


Road Closures

  • Ridge Route Rd at Lake Hughes

  • Ridge Route Rd at Templin Hwy

  • Lake Hughes at Pine Cyn

  • Dry Gulch at San Francisquito Cyn Rd

  • I-5 NB at Parker Rd Off Ramp and I-5 NB at Lake Hughes Rd off ramp will be shut down.

Evacuation orders and warnings were issued shortly afterward, according to official maps on the Cal Fire and Genasys websites.



It started near Castaic Lake , off Lake Hughes Road just north of Castaic Reservoir Road.
