Explorer's Academy is accepting new applications.


Palmdale, CA.-Palmdale Sheriff's Station is excited to announce we are accepting applications for the upcoming Explorer's Academy!


The LASD Explorer Academy is a 14-week academy aimed at teens that are aspiring for a career in law enforcement. Participants will learn responsibility, multi-tasking, teamwork, leadership, and gain hands on experience in basic law enforcement duties. Teens will be challenged in several ways and graduate the program with lifelong memories and experiences.


The Explorer Academy will tentatively begin on February 17, 2024, and will run for 14 consecutive Saturdays at Lancaster station. Parent/Recruit Orientation Day will be held at Lancaster Station on February 3, 2024, and Registration Day will be on February 10, 2024. Call backs for applicant interview appointments will be conducted within the first two weeks of February.

The requirements are as follows:

Teens must be 14-20 years old

Have a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher

Have graduated 8th Grade

Have strong integrity and character

No serious criminal record/probation

Must pass drug screening

Must submit to background check

Must be able to attend Thursday evening Post meetings upon completion of Academy

Applications are available for pick up in the Lancaster, Palmdale, and Santa Clarita Station lobbies.
