PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is inviting residents and business owners to apply for open positions to serve on the Measure AV Oversight Committee for a term of two years, expiring in April 2027. The committee will play a vital role in ensuring that funds collected through the local ¾-cent transactions and use tax are spent according to the guidelines outlined in the Measure AV ballot language.
The committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of every other month at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber, or as needed, to review and provide feedback on proposed revenues and expenditures. The City is looking for individuals who are engaged in the community and committed to upholding the transparency and integrity of public funds.
“We rely on committed residents to ensure the resources we collect are being used to benefit our City,” said Mayor Richard J. Loa. “This is an incredible opportunity for members of the community to help guide the future of Palmdale.”
To be eligible to serve, applicants must either live or own a business in Palmdale and be willing to serve for a minimum of two years. Committee members will be compensated $100 per meeting, with a maximum of two meetings per month. Applicants must not be elected officials. As part of the final selection process, applicants must pass a Livescan fingerprint scan through the California Department of Justice. If appointed, a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700) will be required.
“We encourage residents and business owners who are passionate about transparency and fiscal responsibility to apply,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “Serving on this committee is a meaningful way to make a difference in our community.”
