CHP and LASD conducted a special enforcement.

As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce the number of serious injury and fatal crashes in the Antelope Valley, officers and senior volunteers from CHP, Antelope Valley Area, and deputies from LASD, Palmdale and Lancaster Stations, conducted a special enforcement detail in the area of SR-138 and 72nd Street East; as part of the Antelope Valley Traffic Taskforce (AVTTF).

The detail ran for approximately three hours and resulted in 79 citations (all excessive speed), one misdemeanor arrest, and one vehicle impound.

With the 4th of July holiday approaching this weekend, we are reminding all motorists to please slow down, drive safe and designate a sober driver.

That being said, the CHP begins its Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP), statewide today starting at 6:01 pm.
