Los Angeles, CA.-Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger presented a check yesterday in the amount of $506,488 to Together California, a visionary child welfare organization that works to keep siblings in foster care housed together.

Supervisor Barger's investment will significantly contribute to the construction of essential resources for the new Together California village that is currently under construction in Palmdale, such as beds and communal areas.

This funding, allocated from Los Angeles County’s Department of Health Services’ Housing for Health program, supports Together California’s mission of creating nurturing and supportive environments where maintaining sibling bonds is prioritized. Their first village will offer 12 homes and a community center where children will be cared for by full-time Together California foster parents.

Highlighting the transformative potential of this project, Supervisor Barger commented on her support as she met with renowned actor Christian Bale and Tim McCormick, two leaders of Together California, along with Sibi Blažić (Mr. Bale’s wife) and Dr. Eric Esrailian, MD. “I’m thrilled to support this important organization that will uplift our local foster youth,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “Together California’s innovative model will break the cycle of trauma that happens when you separate siblings when they enter foster care. Keeping siblings together and providing supportive homes and services is sure to make a lifelong positive impact on many youths’ lives.”

Tim McCormick, Executive Director of Together California, stated “This project is coming along great, and we appreciate the committed leadership of Supervisor Barger. We truly believe that every child deserves a chance. This funding is an investment in their futures.”
