Antelope Valley Indian Museum Events

Celebrate the 10th annual Holidays on the Homestead event at the Antelope Valley Indian Museum State Historic Park (SHP) on Saturday, December 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. Originally a 1930’s homestead, the museum’s historic grounds will be decorated in vintage holiday style and feature a tour of the grounds, a country craft boutique, real cowboy coffee brewed over a campfire, and hot chocolate or cider for the kids. Explore the unique hand-built museum and whimsical grounds at night, with soft lighting and the smell of fresh greenery, and the wintery sky sparkling over the desert.

The country craft boutique features unique gift ideas, handmade by local artists. The crafters carry on the artistic tradition of Howard Arden Edwards, who built the Indian Museum to display his collection of American Indian artifacts. The craftsman-style building is decorated with his colorful representations of Indian culture and creative hand-made furniture. 

The per-person admission includes a bowl of chili, complemented by delicious cornbread generously provided by The Lemon Leaf Café.

From Hwy 14, take Avenue K east, turn right on 150th Street East, and left on East Avenue M. The museum is on the left.

Admission: $10 adults, $5 ages 6-12, ages 5 and under free.

Volunteers needed: Make Fresh Garland and Help Decorate

Antelope Valley Indian Museum for the Holidays

Volunteers are needed to help make fresh garland and vintage-style decorations for the Antelope Valley Indian Museum, so it looks and smells festive for Holidays on the Homestead!

All ages and experience levels are invited to help. Museum decorating days are Tuesday November 29th: 12 – 4 p.m., Wednesday November 30th: 12 – 4 p.m., and Friday December 2nd: 12 – 4 p.m. Come any time during the activity hours and enjoy hot chocolate and cider while you work! You may also take home your own small creation made from the extra tree trimmings. After 3 hours of service, volunteers will receive a free pass for the December 3rd Holidays on the Homestead event. This is a great project for student volunteering requirements!

Chili contestants sought for Holiday Event

at the Antelope Valley Indian Museum

Chili applications are being accepted for the Antelope Valley Indian Museum’s annual “Holidays on the Homestead,” to be held on Saturday December 3rd from 5 pm to 8 pm.
