Animal Care Control Response to the Bridge Fire

Palmdale , Ca.- As of most recent updates, the Bridge Fire has spread to 51,167 acres with 0% containment.

DACC wants to assure the public we have mobilized, with our Palmdale and Lancaster Animal Care Centers prepared to receive small animal evacuations (cats will be sheltered at Palmdale and dogs at Lancaster). Our care centers have also reviewed evacuation plans with staff and stand ready to respond to this evolving emergency, with the health and safety of our pets, staff, and the communities we serve set as our top priority.

DACC is also maintaining staff presence at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds to assist with sheltering large animals.

The Department urges everyone to make sure your emergency plans include your pets. You can find a list of items to put in your pet’s “go bag” at https://ready.lacounty.gov/pet-disaster-supply-kits/.

Please visit lacounty.gov/emergency for information on Bridge Fire evacuations, shelters, and road closures. A wealth of emergency preparedness information is also available at Ready.LACounty.gov.

About Noah's Legacy Fund

The Noah’s Legacy Fund was established to support the Department’s emergency response efforts. These services are critical to the communities we serve as we continue to respond to the wildfires, flooding and earthquakes that can occur in the territories we serve.

The fund helps provide the food, shelter, and medical care. It also helps us reunite these pets with the families that are searching for them. Noah’s Legacy Fund is a part of the Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation, which supports the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control through fundraising for spay-and-neuter programs, pet adoptions, public education and safety, and animal welfare.
