Palmdale City Library to Host STEAM Program

PALMDALE – The Palmdale City Library, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., will host a new STEAM program on Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 4 to 5 pm. It is free and geared to youth ages 5-11. “STEAM is about using Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics in a playful, fun and hands on environment,” said Circulation Supervisor Janet McLagan. “STEAM is getting creative and thinking outside the box.” “We are getting into the fall spirit this month with spooky and spunky,” McLagan said. The STEAM movement has been taking root over the past several years and is surging forward as a positive mode of action to truly meet the needs of a 21st century economy. It allows students to connect their learning in these critical areas together with arts practices, elements, design principles, and standards to provide the whole pallet of learning at their disposal. The Library hosts its STEAM program on the second Tuesday of the month from 4 to 5 pm. For more information, please call the Palmdale City Library at 661/267-5600 or TDD 267-5167, or visit www.cityofpalmdale.org/library.
