Kern County man sentenced to 63 years to life.
On December 4, 2018, Jaime Valdez approached a man in Lost Hills, accused him of stealing from him, then stabbed him multiple times in the abdomen with a 5-inch knife, causing major injuries. Next, Valdez drove about 5 minutes away to a meat market where he grabbed the owner by the neck and pointed the knife at her chest, demanding money.
Valdez proceeded to take more than 400 dollars before fleeing the store. KCSO's investigation led to Valdez being identified and apprehended within days.
This week, following a jury trial conviction, Valdez was sentenced to 63 years-to-life in prison. Valdez' sentence was enhanced by multiple prior serious and violent felony convictions, including a 2004 Robbery and a 2014 Assault with a Deadly Weapon case. DDA Ronald Sou prosecuted the case and secured the conviction.
