Arrest was made following shooting.
On Saturday July 13, 2019, at approximately 10:23 p.m., deputies from the Wasco City, Buttonwillow, and Delano Substations responded to the report of a victim of a shooting in a parking lot in the 2300 block of Highway 46 in Wasco. When they arrived, they found an adult male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to his buttocks. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening wound.

During their investigation, deputies identified the suspect as 27-year-old Jesus Barrios of Wasco. Deputies obtained a warrant for Barrios’ arrest, charging him with assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit a crime, and participating in a criminal street gang. Deputies also obtained a search warrant for Barrios’ residence and a family member’s residence. On Monday July 15, 2019, at approximately 6:40 p.m., deputies located Barrios driving in the 1200 block of 7th Street. Deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested Barrios without incident. Deputies then responded to the 1100 block of 7th Place to execute the search warrant. Deputies located approximately 340 grams of marijuana, scales, $1,600.00, surveillance cameras, several cell phones, and ammunition in Barrios’ residence and a loaded shotgun belonging to Barrios in his family member’s residence. Barrios was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility for his arrest warrant as well as marijuana sales and maintaining a residence for the purposes of selling drugs.
