PRESS RELEASE

Cal City Preparations underway for another major event within next few days.

Emergency staff, city government, church and organization leaders met today to review preparations for another major quake. The 6.4 earthquake was followed by a 7.1 magnitude quake. There are strong probabilities of another equal or greater quake within the next few days. For year’s the city disaster preparedness groups have met to prepare the community for a disaster. Today, the leaders met to trigger a higher level of preparedness. The basic plan includes: In the event of a major quake, local churches, VFW, and the American Legion would be distribution points for their members. Residents should contact their organization to verify they are participating. Local Emergency locations: Central Park/ Strata Center is predesignated Shelter location for the American Red Cross Injuries: Residents should not go to the Fire Station or Halls quarters. They will probably be deployed at active emergencies. The front parking area of the Police Department would be staffed with emergency workers to provide basic assistance and triage area for Ambulances and air ambulance. Residents should be prepared for a possible interruption in services if a major quake should occur in our area. More information will be sent out as needed.  The city will be in a higher level of alertness for the next 48 hours.
