Rescuers search for missing child in Kern River.

MISSING GIRL IN KERN RIVER NEAR KEYESVILLE 

Kern Valley Search and Rescue, Kern County Fire Department and Kern County Sheriff's Office are currently searching for an 11-year-old girl who went missing in the Kern River this morning. At approximately 10:40 a.m., reports started coming in that claimed two people needed to be rescued from the water near the Keyesville area. According to Kern County Search & Rescue, the girl went into the river and a teenage male jumped in after her. The male managed to make back to shore while the girl was swept down river by the strong current. She was not wearing a life-jacket. Rescuers are currently searching around the Granite Launch area and are expected to move further downstream. The search is expected to continue until dusk and then resume first thing in the morning if needed. It is the same area where two teenage boys, ages 15 and 19, were reported missing last weekend. They have not been found.
