Little Hats, Big Hearts Spotlights Heart Defects

Through a collaboration with the American Heart Association, babies born at Antelope Valley Hospital during the month of February received handmade red hats as part of the Little Hats, Big Hearts program. Little Hats, Big Hearts brings attention to heart disease, the number one killer of Americans, and congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the country.

The Little Hats, Big Hearts ceremony was one of several events the hospital hosted in February as part of National Heart Health Month. The ceremony also recognized the Antelope Valley Blanketeers, a local group of crocheters and knitters who create hundreds of baby caps for the American Heart Association each year.
