Wednesday, January 2

Midweek Movies, 5:30 pm. The Meg (PG-13). Free admission, open to all ages.

Thursday, January 3

Chess for All, 6 pm. Freeplay sessions for new and experienced players. Chess sets are provided, all ages welcome 6 pm, with Miss Maria, all ages.

Monday, January 7

Kindness Rocks, 4 pm. Bringing the community together to spread kindness by painting rocks for others to find. Pain and rocks are provided. Free admission, open to all ages.

Tuesday, January 8

Coffee and Coloring for Adults, 10 am. We provide the coffee and coloring supplies, you provide the conversation and creativity.

ThinkShop, 4 pm. A STEM-based program exploring the way the world works for ages 5-11.

Tuesday, January 8, 15, 22 & 29

Legal Aid for Low Income Individuals, 3-6 pm. Services provided by the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles by appointment only. Call the library at 267-5600 to schedule an appointment.

Wednesday, January 9

Midweek Movies, 5:30 pm. Wall-E (G). Free admission, open to all ages.

Tuesday, January 15

African-American Authors Book Club, 6:45 pm. All adults welcome. Discussion of a new title by African-American authors each month.

Wii U Event, 4 pm. Wii U events are held in the library activity room the third Tuesday of every month, with Wii U Tournaments are held every other month. Free entry. Games and controllers are provided. Open to all ages.

Preschool Storytime 1 pm. Ages 3–5 with Miss Shay.

Mystery Book Club, 7 pm. A new mystery title to discuss each month.

Toddler Storytime, 9:15 and 10:15 am (2 sessions) with Miss Shay. Ages 12-36 months.

Baby & Me Lap-sit Storytime For Infants pre-walking age (0-18 months) and their caregivers, 9:30 am, with Miss Jamielee.

Read, Learn, Create Book Club, 3:30 pm. Read, Learn, Create: A Book Club for the Artistically Inclined is not your typical book club. The “RLC” is intended for creative types who tend to think outside of the box. Open to all creative types, 16 years and older.

Wednesday, January 23 Young Americans, 4:30 pm. A discussion group for ages 13-19. Want to talk about what’s going on in the world? Want to know how you can take a role in society? Want to be smart enough to face the world on its terms? Get answers at the Library.

Friday, January 25

Storycrafter’s Club, Palmdale City Library, 3 to 4 pm. A special craft and story club for ages 5-9 with a new theme each month.

Monday, January 28

Classics Book Club, Palmdale City Library, 7 pm. With a new title each month, this month it will be Look Homeward, Angel by Thomas Wolfe.

Tuesday, January 29

Books and Barks, 3:30 pm to 5 pm. Build your kids’ reading skills by letting them read to friendly, non-judgmental dogs in one of our most popular events.

Family Game Night, 3:30-6 pm. Board games are made available for families to check out and engage in friendly competitions. Ages 5+.

Family Dance Night, 3:30-6 pm. Learn the moves to popular dance songs like “Cupid Shuffle” or “Cha Cha Slide.” All ages.

Tots Hour, 10 am -2 pm. Tots will be provided with hands-on, free activities that give them the opportunities to explore their world through a variety of indoor and outdoor experiences. Ages 2-5.

Scavenger Hunt! 10 am-4 pm. Stop by the park office for a scavenger hunt guide! New scavenger hunts every week! Park staff available for assistance. All ages.

#RockTheArtPalmdale – 5-6:30 pm. Come join the rock movement and paint a rock with the intention to hide it for another person to find. Supplies are provided on a first come basis. Ages 5 and up.

Saturday, January 12- Marie Kerr

Rock and Gem Appreciation, 1-3 pm. Join us inside the park community building as we partner with Antelope Valley Gem and Mineral Club and provide free educational information regarding rocks and gems. Members from the club will be on hand to talk and demonstrate their rock findings. Learn how rocks and gems shape our surroundings! Free family event.

Tag Tuesday, 4:30-6 pm. Come run and learn how to play different versions of tag! All ages welcome.

Neighborhood Block Party, 2-4 pm. Join us at the park and get to know your neighbors as we celebrate National Popcorn Day together! Park Staff will host field games and a social corner to encourage positive social conversations that unite the community. Positive thoughts start within all of us. Legal Clinic with Neighborhood Legal Services, 9 am – 12 pm at SAVES, 1002 E Ave Q-12. The NLS team provides free assistance to individuals and families dealing with Veteran benefits, other than Honorable Discharge. Walk-ins are welcome or call 1-800-433-6251 to make an appointment or speak with an in-take advocate.

Housing Rights Legal Clinic with Neighborhood Legal Services, 9 am – 12 pm at SAVES, 1002 E Ave Q-12. The NLS team provides free assistance to individuals and families dealing with fair housing, unsafe conditions, mobile home residency law, loan modification, fraud, consumer debt, Section 8, legal problems and landlord/ tenant problems. Walk-ins are welcome or call 1-800-433-6251 to make an appointment or speak with an in-take advocate.
