1 detained after reports of armed person at Highland High School in Palmdale

Authorities went to Highland High School on the 39000 block of 25th Street West in Palmdale of reports of a man w/ gun on campus.

Update: Abt 0730 am. Call of shots heard near Manzanita Elementary School in Palmdale. @PalmdaleSheriff @LANLASD deputies on scene. No other information available.

Also calls were received of “shots fired” heard near the campus of Manzanita a Elementary School on the 38600 block of 33rd Street East, the sheriff’s department reported.

Most schools in the Antelope Valley area were put on lock down for the safety of the students and staff.

"I want to let you know that all of the Palmdale Elementary Schools were put on lockdown, and all of our students are safe." said Raul Maldonado Superintendent of Palmdale Schools via their Social Media Facebook site
