Palmdale City Council member Roxana Martinez has officially announced her candidacy for Palmdale Cit


The City of Palmdale next General Municipal Election is Tuesday, November 8, 2016. And Councilwoman Roxana Martinez, has announce the candidacy for one of the Palmdale Council seat who currently lives in District one..

Martinez was appointed to the Palmdale City Council at its Jan 14 2015 meeting to fill the seat vacated by newly elected State Assemblyman Tom Lackey.

Martinez had been serving as the Vice-Chair of the Palmdale Planning Commission prior to her Council appointment, and has served on the Commission since 2012.

How are the Mayor and City Councilmembers elected?

The Office of the Mayor of the City shall be an elective office which shall have a term of two (2) years. The Mayor shall be elected by a city-wide election.

Starting with the November 8, 2016 General Municipal Election, City Councilmembers will no longer be elected on a city-wide basis. Councilmembers shall be elected by four (4) geographic districts.

Each resident will vote for one (1) Councilmember to represent their district. Council candidates must reside in the district they are seeking to serve.

For the November 8, 2016 General Municipal Election ONLY, City Council Districts will have staggered terms as indicated on the table below. After the November 8, 2016 election, all Council District seats will have four (4) year terms.
